In an incident of blasphemy charge, a mob has attacked the Christian Joseph Colony, Lahore, where the accused resided.
As a Muslim, I strongly condemn this attack. If the accused has committed blasphemy, he has been arrested and the courts will and should decide according to law. However, there is no need to harm anyone else or destroy anything.
This mob just seems like a lot frustrated by economic, social and political problems, and hence is venting out their anger on a plausible cause. This is highly unfair to the ones attacked as well as to Islam.
Also, the country is strongly being plagued by political attempts at propelling sectarian violence. The authorities need to look into the matter if this incident is also a sequel of these attempts.
I urge the government to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards the perpetrators of sectarian and minorities violence.
