Baldia Factory Owners, Sialkot Criminals and Shahrukh Jatoi

Asalamo Alykum, As far as I can remember, criminals in Pakistan go scot-free. However, in the recent past, some change has come thanks to the fair and resolute approach of the honorable CJ Iftikhar M. Chaudhry.

Now, does Prime Minister Raja P. Ashraf have the right to pardon the owners of the Karachi Baldia Town Factory Fire? If the constitution provides such a right, please change such an unfair and inhuman constitution clause.

It also brings question to the mind, are the murderers of the two Sialkot brothers, Mughees and Muneeb, actually serving their sentence or have they been quietly let out as well?

Will Shahrukh Jatoi and his fellow culprits really get punished or will somebody play the tricks for them too?

The CJ Iftikhar M. Chaudhry is requested to deal all these matters with an iron fist and may Allah Almighty bless him for it. Wsalam.

Allama Qadri's March: Shame on PTV and Some Politicians

I am neither a follower nor a member of Minhaj-ul-Quran, but I support Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri’s worthy agenda. My heart was honoring and aching for the protesters of Allama Qadri’s sit-in as it started to rain. It was dismal and people were trying their best to hang on and not give in to the weather. As I was flipping through the channels, the commentary of PTV caught my attention. The PTV anchor was saying, ‘The rain has further broken down the protesters; they had already begun to get sick and tired of their leader’s tirade. People have started to leave the camp in huge flocks…’. He had cunningly positioned himself at the back entrance from where ‘visitors’ were coming and leaving! He also said, ‘These protesters are mindlessly and irrationally following their leader’s commands who has bewitched them. They are being totally irresponsible for their women and children, not caring for their health and wellbeing’. How can they, sir, with no jobs, money and soaring food prices? It is downright evil how biased and prejudiced humans and job requirements can become, such that one refuses to acknowledge factual miseries and labels honorable struggles as ‘irresponsible behavior’. Shame on PTV. And shame on most of our politicians except Imran Khan. He thought it wiser not to join but he did not bad-mouth him or his March, while some of our other politicians are so immature that they cannot even hide their jealously of a successful stroke by another leader. They come with all kind of garbage which reflects nothing but the shallowness of their own character. If they did not agree with the March, they could have simply said so, that we ‘disagree’, but to call it unconstitutional while you did the same only three years ago, and to call it a circus and what not, only makes you yourself a clown in the public eye.

Allama Qadri's March: Thumbs-up and Thumbs-down Together

Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Long March and sit-in was speculative in its grandeur, enthusiasm and bravery. I salute its participants for braving out four nights and four days on the road in front of the parliament in the bitter cold of January in Islamabad, which is the coldest month from round the year. It even rained on the fourth day, although nobody knew at that time that it would be the last day of the sit-in, and the enthusiastic participants listened to their leader’s speech amidst the pelting rain. The crowd did not comprise of Minhaj-ul-Quran members and followers only. It also comprised of common citizens who are sick to the head of the soaring inflation of food prices and basic commodities of life, no electricity, no gas, no water, no jobs, no healthcare and on top of that, flamboyant corruption and flashy lifestyles of the leaders. It is as if they are smirking at the smeared janta. Many people categorically said that we do not care what school-of-thought Allama Qadri belongs to and what his past was, we are here to demand CHANGE because we are sick to the guts of the corrupt system. Believe it or not, all the maids and helpers from our household went too. Does this mean that the common citizens have the ability to come out and protest provided they feel for the cause? Does that mean that that we do not truly feel for Aafia Siddiqui? For Missing Persons? For Drone Attacks? For Kerry-Lugar Bill? For Raymond Davis case? For Kashmir Issue? For Palestine Issue? For the information of the readers, Ms. Amina Masood, chairperson of Defence of Human Rights (www.dhrpk.org), the aggrieved families of Missing Persons and their supporters have also put up a sit-in at D-chowk many times amidst cold weather, wind-storms that blew away their tents and bitter-cold nights of November and February. Three days, seven days, thirteen days, sixty days, seventy-five days…and the administration waited ‘patiently’ for them to exhaust their energies and money and go back home unaccomplished, downtrodden and brokenhearted. Neither did the media cover them much like they covered Dr. Qadri. Of course, like everything else, reporting calamity has its fees too. But do you know the number of common citizens who participate in these sit-ins? One, two, five, twenty, at best, fifty…compare this to the hundred thousand plus present at the Allama Qadri’s sit-in… This shows our face as a nation. We will step out and speak up if somebody steps on our tail, but if it is somebody else’s tail in trouble, ‘what can I do’?

Shahrukh Jatoi's Arrogance Must be Hanged

It is so terribly sad, the young death of Shahzeb Khan. While I feel fuming anger at not just Sharukh Jatoi, but all those who developed the arrogance that he is stuffed with. He killed for no major reason except arrogance itself. When Shahzeb and the Siraj Talpur had a squabble, Shahzeb’s father intervened and settled the matter, as nice, gentlemanly fathers usually do. But, Shahrukh Jatoi is said to have raised and fired three shots in the air, saying, ‘The matter may be settled with the Talpurs, but it is not settled with me…I am Shahrukh Jatoi, son of Sikander Jatoi…’ What does it matter Mr. Shahrukh, what your name is or who your father is? It does not impress anyone. And I hate all those who stuffed you with such arrogance, be it your family, friends or boot-licking servants. I hope the CJ hangs you well and I hope Allah Almighty’s Plans hang all those who pumped you to such arrogance, from your childhood all the way to today.

No Concession for the Under-Eighteen

The barbaric punishments of Islam can today offer some solace to the family of Nirbhaya, the famous Delhi gang-rape victim. While the culprits might be given a death sentence, in Islam, it is a death sentence for sure. While I wish some Hindu guru would take up the famous ‘an eye for an eye’ Holy law and treat those animals with the same cruel treatment that they meted out, that is, they should be publically raped for a full one hour, then beaten and inserted with an iron road, then thrown out of the bus and have it run over them till death. As for the sixth guy who must be thanking his stars that he is under-eighteen and hence prone to some relaxation, well Islam has some bad news for him and good news for Nirbhaya’s family. If he was old enough to rape, then he is old enough for punishment. In Islam, a person is considered an adult and hence responsible for his/her actions at puberty, be it at eleven, thirteen or whatever. The threshold is puberty and not being ‘eighteen or above’.

Tribute to Indian Leaders & Media for Nirbhaya

A tribute to the Indian leaders who cancelled all official New Year parties in the wake of the Delhi girl, Nirbhaya’s rape, while our leaders shake hands, host dinners and award medals to officers of the state which continues to endorse rape, naked cavity search and videotaping of it, for the daughter of the nation, Aafia Siddiqui. A tribute also to the Indian media, who black bordered their newspapers in mourning of the human tragedy, while our media was all colorful with minute-by-minute personal reports of Sania-Shoiab wedding in the very time period Aafia Siddiqui was due to be sentenced any day in 2010. A country progresses only when it cares for its people; no wonder India is far ahead of us today.

Bilawal, Imran Khan's Popularity Antidote

PPP obviously has little hope of returning to power this elections, because of their, like always, insincere governance performance and also because it is Nawaz Shareef’s turn now, or supposed to be. However, a third force recently came in power which was totally unexpected and obviously sent the traditional political parties floundering for anti-dotes. This third force was Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, with its founder Imran Khan immensely popular with the youth. PPP has shrewdly put forward, the cute, Bilawal Zardari as an anti-dote, to snatch away at least half of the youth following Imran Khan, that is, the females. I can only plead, to the female youth, to keep fancies out of politics. The young girls of today, are the mothers of tomorrow. So young girls, cuteness will not feed your children tomorrow, cuteness will not provide them with education and jobs, cuteness will not be an alternate to lack of electricity, cooking gas and fuel, cuteness will not make nice dresses, shoes and bags affordable for you and cuteness will not save your boys from becoming Faizan and Fahim. Please girls, vote for sincerity and not cuteness.

Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri, For the Sake of Unity Only

I hate to be judgmental about the credibility of any Muslim scholar, for all too often we are calling various scholars Ulema-e-Su, fitnah and a foreign agent. It breaks the unity of the Muslim nation, weakens them and presents an ugly picture of the Muslims. And I will not do so. I will only ask you humbly, Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri, ‘Sir, as a scholar of Islam and as a Muslim, what do you expect in reaction from a nation which has faced genocide, ethnic cleansing, caliphate devolution, state take-over’s, resources plundering, persecution, execution and ideology alienation during the last century? Exactly what legitimate response you have in mind? When the Bosnian pregnant women were butchered in the stomach and sewn back with kittens inside, when Bosnian teenage girls were striped and caged on a public road with a ‘Free Sex’ sign overboard, when a Bosnian girl-child was molested by a group of soldiers who oral sexed her so much that her tonsils burst out, when the Bosnian men were so weak in faith that they put their hands together and begged the Serbs not to kill them, it is then that the Mujahideen, oops, the terrorists arrived from all over the world and lent the Muslim Bosnians a shoulder, a fist and a spine. Dear America, England and all those you pronounce benefactors of Muslims turned a blind eye to the entire human catastrophe until the Muslims had been well busted out. Then, towards the end, they landed in with a farce of ‘international intervention’. This is a very short narration of only one Muslim land’s plight. Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, Palestine continue to date while many others are now history. Today, the situation has worsened. The Burma Massacre 2012 where an estimated 20,000 Muslim men, women and children, including babies have been roasted to death in a manner of ancient times torture was not even reported in the international media and nor local media, because the big boss signaled in the negative. One simple question only, what would you have done if all the above Bosnian women were women of your family, you would have been tied up and made to witness their horror and lived on? What would you have done?

Obama Might Turn Ruthless Now

Although I feel thankful that Obama has won against Romney, for Romney is a Republican and the Republicans are said to be more war-oriented than the Democrats, still, there is not much to look forward to. President Obama might have kept a lighter hand upon international issues and issues related to Muslims, in the past, to continue having support of the minorities in the future, but now he has no more elections to contest and hence nothing to lose. This will be his last term and he will do whatever he feels like. Consequently, he might turn ruthless now. We need to focus on strengthening ourselves and resolving our issues ourselves instead of keep looking towards the President of America. He is their president and will work for them, not us. “The fact is that Allah never changes to condition of a people until they intend to change it themselves” [The Holy Quran, Surah Ar-Ra’ad, Excerpt from Verse 11]

Over-Reacting to Generals

Mirza Aslam Baig, Asad Durrani and Hamid Gul have sizeable contribution to the defence of Pakistan. Have they been found guilty of tempering with politics? Was it to become Prime Ministers and Presidents themselves? Or to save the country from politicians who are a security threat to the state? Because unfortunately, in our country, a big chunk of votes comes from poverty-stricken and harassed villagers whose Chaudhri is sold out. It is he who tells the poor villagers who to vote for if they want a share in the harvest for the coming year. They also vote by ethnic association; a Sindhi prefers to vote for a Sindhi. They also vote by legendary association. I once asked a PPP voter why he voted for PPP. He said, ‘Benazir’s father was an inspirational man’. But he is no more alive? But worst of all is this one; I once asked a PPP voter why she voted for PPP? She said, ‘Benazir Bhutto is pretty looking’. Confounded silence. While majority of the educated stay at home and do not vote out of sheer distrust in the whole system. It is ironical that the PPP is so gleeful about the Asghar Khan case result and some of their officials have gone as far as saying that the culprits should be ‘hanged’ in public under Article 6. Sir, do you forget Article 6 for Musharraf, Shakeel Afridi and Hussain Haqqani? Do not over-react. I feel very sorry that the three named Generals used money to achieve objects but I have no doubt that their intention was creating a firewall against corrupt politicians.

I want Prophet Muhammed's Pakistan

Although I appreciate MQM’s concern for the future of Pakistan and their effort to invoke a referendum for it, but the referendum question ‘Do you want Quaid’s Pakistan or Taliban’s Pakistan? ’ is incomplete. If I vote for Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, then where does Pakistan stand? Will it be religious or secular? For both the secular and the religious interpret Quaid-e-Azam’s August 11th speech as according to their ideology. I cannot vote for Taliban’s Pakistan for there is a great suspicion as to who these Taliban are? Are they real or disguised agents? Do they mean it or are they acting out of resentment and frustration of a betrayed nation? Here’s a brainwave; how about if I say I want Prophet Muhammed’s Pbuh Pakistan? Yes? No? Are you a Muslim?
