Comment: International Voting Plea

Asalamo Alykum,

Where there is a will, there is a way.

Why could not international voting be implemented? If electronic voting is yet not possible, it is still possible to accommodate international voters manually. They can download and print the ballot page, stamp their vote and courier it with their original ID card to the ECP. The voters can include a return envelope for their ID card to be returned to them.

Please allow international voting for this is a precarious time for Pakistan.

Asalamo Alykum,

Imran Khan has the unique quality of being the choice of religious and seculars alike because he is a straight and progressive leader.

Now why has Musharraf returned? To break away the progressive vote bank of Imran Khan?

I hope the progressive gentry is wise enough to stick to Imran Khan and not return to the criminal Musharraf.

Asalamo Alykum,

Shame on all the dupatta-clad ladies of PML-Q who sat there watching a young girl do Mujra in front of a crowd of men, women and cameras. Alas, but the greatest woe unto the organizer of that ‘cultural’ show, who amazingly happenened to be a woman herself.

Respectable women, why did you not join her in her art performance?

Comment: ECP, Please Speedup for Overseas Voters & E-Voting

To: cec@ecp.gov.pk
Cc: mail@supremecourt.gov.pk
Bcc: [Choose from 'Quick Contacts' on bottom-right]

Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

The Honorable Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim is requested to please speedup the overseas voter’s list and their registration for voting.

E-voting will have to be enabled for them to vote.

Is it possible that the local residents of Pakistan can also opt for e-voting as this will highly increase the voting turnout?

Previously, many people did not vote simply because of lethargy. In the current circumstances, many people will not come out to vote because of the law and order situation and terror threat, especially in sensitive areas.

With regards to this, I would like to repost a technical post which was printed in the Dawn Newspaper on January 3, 2013…

“Pakistan stands on top in the region in terms of the Internet penetration. In Pakistan, about 16 per cent of population use the Internet against 12 per cent in India and five per cent in Bangladesh. Most of the Internet users in Pakistan are its youths. Like postal ballot, the ECP may introduce Internet voting in the upcoming general elections. The Internet voting system can work like the already established postal ballot.
The voters who wish to cast their vote through the Internet can request the ECP well before the polling day.
The ECP can issue an account name and password for each such voter. The ECP can eliminate the names of those voters from voter lists to avoid duplicate voting.
This procedure is simpler than VOI and the cost-intensive DRE voting system in Europe and the US.
Furthermore, it is more transparent and secure due to the central database. By, IRFAN MEHMOOD
Sargodha”.

May Allah Almighty Help you, Ameen.

Comment: Malala was Not Shot for Trying to Get Education

Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

Much as I condemn the shooting of Malala Yousafzai, I wish to point out that she was not shot just because she was trying to get education. There were so many others doing the same.

Since the shooting, I am repeatedly reading and hearing this phrase in the news, especially international news outlets, that, ‘Malala, a fourteen year-old girl, was brutally shot by the Taliban simply because she trying to get education…’

This statement is a journalistic, either error or deception.

She was not shot simply because was trying to get education. She was shot because she had been making anti-Islam statements like ‘veiling reminds me of the stone-ages’, ‘beard reminds me of Pharoah’ and so on. She was doing so on international forums as well.

Please condemn the shooting, but in the right perspective for journalism is a sacred trust.

I wish to congratulate the Chief Justice and Supreme Court on the steady progress of Shahzeb Murder Case.

The culprits have been convicted. Congratulations. They must be punished now. No out-of-court settlement should be allowed.

And no punishment less than the capital punishment shall be acceptable for the murderers.

Comment: Condemnation of Muslim Mob Attack on Christian Colony

To: sarfaraz_yousuf@yahoo.com
Cc: [Choose from ‘Quick Contacts’ on bottom-right]
Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

In an incident of blasphemy charge, a mob has attacked the Christian Joseph Colony, Lahore, where the accused resided.

As a Muslim, I strongly condemn this attack. If the accused has committed blasphemy, he has been arrested and the courts will and should decide according to law. However, there is no need to harm anyone else or destroy anything.

This mob just seems like a lot frustrated by economic, social and political problems, and hence is venting out their anger on a plausible cause. This is highly unfair to the ones attacked as well as to Islam.

Also, the country is strongly being plagued by political attempts at propelling sectarian violence. The authorities need to look into the matter if this incident is also a sequel of these attempts.

I urge the government to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards the perpetrators of sectarian and minorities violence.

Asalamo Alykum,

Pakistan and Bangladesh, being immediate neighbors of India, have the ethical responsibility of helping India as one of its states Maharastra, is facing a severe drought.

It is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammed Pbuh that he transported grains to the state of Makkah when Makkah faced a severe famine. This was despite great enmity existing between Makkah and Madinah. Yes, Kashmir continues as a thorn between the two nations, yet we Muslims should help the Indians in the hour of human crisis.

Muslim government and NGOs should step forward and try to resolve the drought issue of Maharastra, India.

Comment: Dr. Shakeel Afridi is Responsible for Attacks on Polio Teams

To: NA

Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

Yes, many puritan Muslims as well as mediocre Muslims have always been suspicious of the purpose of free vaccine programs by the West in the East and Muslim countries. However, at the most they refused to have their children vaccined.

This new scenario, in which polio team workers are being attacked and killed, is not in response to this mistrust. It is in fact an angry reaction to the act of Dr. Shakeel Afridi, who ran a fake vaccine camp as a means to track down Sheikh Osama bin Laden for America.

As Wikipedia puts it, ‘Humanitarian organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières, protested the use of a medical charity for espionage purposes believing it would cause suspicion of such organizations in the future and endanger personnel working on such projects…’

This is exactly what has happened. How will we reverse the effect now?

Comment: Sectarian Killings are Attempts to Ignite Civil War in Pakistan

To: mail@supremecourt.gov.pk
Bcc: [Choose from ‘Quick Contacts’ on bottom-right]
Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

The twin blasts in Karachi on the 3rd March, 2013, are condemnable beyond words. Although it is an old strategy of the non-Muslims against Muslims, yet it is despicable once again beyond words.

These sudden blasts targeting the Shia sect among Muslims is a desperate attempt by the receding forces of Afghanistan; they are desperately clicking on the sectarian screen of Pakistan hoping for a civil war to break out which would give them a political reason and opportunity to intervene and intercede and then either disintegrate Pakistan or at least denuclearize it. The coming two years are thus crucial for them and for us since they are to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

Mr. Rehman Malik is just comfortably blaming everything on religious groups without giving any proof, because it is comfortable to blame everything on them. If it is the religious groups, why cannot he stop them? If he cannot, why does not he resign? Admitted that the religious sectarian groups are prone to sectarian violence, but usually there is an issue which triggers the violence. What sectarian issue has taken place over the last year for these sectarian killings to take place?

The truth is that his government is trying to cover-up their horrendous error of issuing visas to the notorious Blackwater and the likes of them and now do not know how to handle the situation. The Ministry responsible for issuing visas to foreigners is responsible for all these political, sectarian and civilian deaths.

I request the Supreme Court to issue notice to the relevant departments and take preventive and proactive actions to avoid these shootings and blasts.

Comment: Arm Twisting Pakistan

To: info@jamaat.org, info@pmln.org, islamabad@insaf.pk
Bcc: [Choose from ‘Quick Contacts’ on bottom-right]
Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum,

You must be knowing what arm-twisting is, right? When a bully twists the arm of a weaker one and forces him/her to agree to something before letting go.

Pakistan is in trouble regarding Balochistan, albeit due to its own unfair administration. However, as Pakistan is all set to make a business deal with the internationally sanctioned brother Iran, a US Congressman has taken up the issue of Balochistan and is suggesting a ‘referendum for independence’.

Could this cry be actually an arm-twister to Pakistan over the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project?

Pakistan must not buckle down. Pakistan should take heed and resolve its internal matters pronto. Next, Pakistan should make its decisions independently and the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project must go on…

US Congressman Rohrabacher is requesting a referendum to be conducted in Balochistan as to whether its people want to stay part of Pakistan or not.

Sir Rohrabacher, could you please first advocate the implementation of the 66 year-old standing orders of the UN to conduct plebiscite in Kashmir whether they want stay part of India or not?

Comment: Rohingya Muslims versus Hazara Muslims

To: info@pemra.gov.pk, info@jamaat.org, info@pmln.org, islamabad@insaf.pk
Bcc: [Choose from ‘Quick Contacts’ on bottom-right]
Subject: [Write your own or duplicate ‘Title’]

Asalamo Alykum Dear All,

Perhaps somebody could shed some light on this not-so-complex problem. I am extremely devastated, angry and concerned about the mass killings of Hazara Muslims in Pakistan. I was also devastated, angry and concerned about the mass killings of Rohingya Muslims in Burma. More so, because, the massacre of Rohingya Muslims met complete silence and a blind eye by the international media as well as the local media. We only got to know about it via social media. In contrast, news about the massacre of the Hazara Muslims is all over the channels. Why?

Further, no one offered the Rohingya Muslims any asylum, not even the Muslim countries! However, in the case of the Hazaras, 2500 families have been offered asylum by Australia. Let it be noted here that 200+ Hazaras have been killed in the recent Hazara attacks, while 20,000+ Rohingya Muslims were killed in the recent attacks against Rohingya Muslims.

Is it then about politics and not about human rights and tragedy? Broadcasting the Hazara massacre would make Pakistan look bad and a failed state, so let us do it? And broadcasting the Rohingya massacre would create sympathy for Muslims so let us ignore it? See, even the word ‘Muslims’ is not being used for the Hazaras…

They would play these politics, I understand, but why is Pakistan playing it? Any clue?
