Asalamo Alykum Dear All,

Perhaps somebody could shed some light on this not-so-complex problem. I am extremely devastated, angry and concerned about the mass killings of Hazara Muslims in Pakistan. I was also devastated, angry and concerned about the mass killings of Rohingya Muslims in Burma. More so, because, the massacre of Rohingya Muslims met complete silence and a blind eye by the international media as well as the local media. We only got to know about it via social media. In contrast, news about the massacre of the Hazara Muslims is all over the channels. Why?

Further, no one offered the Rohingya Muslims any asylum, not even the Muslim countries! However, in the case of the Hazaras, 2500 families have been offered asylum by Australia. Let it be noted here that 200+ Hazaras have been killed in the recent Hazara attacks, while 20,000+ Rohingya Muslims were killed in the recent attacks against Rohingya Muslims.

Is it then about politics and not about human rights and tragedy? Broadcasting the Hazara massacre would make Pakistan look bad and a failed state, so let us do it? And broadcasting the Rohingya massacre would create sympathy for Muslims so let us ignore it? See, even the word ‘Muslims’ is not being used for the Hazaras…

They would play these politics, I understand, but why is Pakistan playing it? Any clue?

Wsalam,
