Subject : Repatriation of Global Sumud Flotilla Prisoners

Your Excellency,

I am writing to you regarding the urgent and grave issue of the Global Sumud Flotilla prisoners.

The Global Sumud Flotilla was a humanitarian mission, aiming to deliver food, medicine and necessities, to the victims of Israel’s blockade and genocide, Palestine.

They stood against injustice and now face injustice themselves !

The participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla are the best of humanity today, dedicating their time and resources, sacrificing their personal life and jobs, and on top, risking their safety and lives for a selfless cause …

The humanitarian mission has already been aborted by an apartheid regime and their aid confiscated. Surely, these champions of humanity deserve at least the bare minimum, that they be repatriated back to their home countries safely.

Further, I hereby raise the alarm that there is news circulating from credible sources that the high-profile activist who was aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, Greta Thunberg, has reportedly been physically abused and tortured, dragged by the hair and forced to kiss the Israeli flag, by the IOF, in front of the other prisoners of the mission, as reported by Ersin Celik, a Turkish journalist who has just been released.

Other than Greta Thunberg, high profile personalities still in custody are Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela from South Africa and Ex Senator Mushtaq Ahmad from Pakistan, while the world renown British journalist Yvonne Ridley has actually gone ‘missing’ enroute her supposed deportation to Turkey.

I urge the UN Offices, UN Missions and MOFAs of the home countries, to immediately get in contact with their citizens via the diplomatic channels, provide consular support and legal assistance, and broadcast the repatriation progress on mainstream and social media platforms for all to see justice in process.

I also request the countries who have acted with dignity and secured the immediate return of all of their activists, to look out for the other activists whose own governments are not bothering to save their citizens from the Israeli prisons, for humanity knows no borders.

I additionally urge the higher UN offices to make Israel accountable for intercepting a humanitarian flotilla, kidnapping the activists on international waters and imprisoning them under unlawful, derogatory and inhumane conditions, such as denying water, food, sleep and medicines.

I look forward to a safe and swift repatriation of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists to their home countries. God bless !

Regards,

Umme Muhammed
